Paul Tolmé is a freelance magazine writer who specializes in the environment, wildlife, skiing, outdoor adventure and travel. Tolmé is a contributing writer at SKI magazine and a frequent contributor to Newsweek, for whom he covers breaking national news from the Rockies as well as winter sports and outdoor fitness trends. In addition, Tolmé regularly writes for National Wildlife, covering topics from climate change to the wildlife of North America. His work can also be seen in Audubon, Defenders of Wildlife, Hooked on the Outdoors, FAIR and Mountain Gazette, among others. In 2000 Tolmé was one of five nationally selected recipients of the Ted Scripps Fellowship in Environmental Journalism. Prior to that, he worked for 10 years as a staff writer for The Associated Press, finishing his AP career as the Northern Virginia correspondent. Previously, Paul worked in AP bureaus in Concord, N.H., Portland, Maine and Providence, R.I.
